“A Kid Like Jake” Catches Authentic NYC Anxious Parenting

You don’t get it until you’ve lived in NYC. People freak about placing their children in the right private schools.

Does a movie need Thor for it to be good? I don’t know. A Kid Like Jake  isn’t something you pop in every weekend like it’s the first time. It is a story authentic to locality with realistic acting.  Films are also art. Capturing reality in a moment in time should count as a good movie.

The movie is all about a current events question. How does a young gender-free or possibly trans character identify? Is he making the choice or are you as parents making the choice for him/her/them through witnessing his expression?

Someday we will study this film in classes as a reflection of the times. By then, I hope we have an answer for the best ways to treat LGBT youth.
